Parent Teacher Conferences: We are so excited to share your scholar's
progress! Parent Teacher Conferences are mandatory, and they are offered
on October 17th and 18th. Please see an email from your homeroom
teacher with the link to signup or visit the Archway Chandler website. A friendly reminder to please bring your child's Friday Folder with signed assessments to your conference, so that it may be reviewed as part of your child's portfolio. Thank you!
China Celebration: To enrich our curriculum and
allow learning to come alive, we will have a China celebration! The
students will discover Chinese food, create a craft, and unravel a
silkworm’s cocoon. Look for a sign up soon for items. This event will be Friday, October 28th.

Academics:
History: When we return, we
will continue to learn about China! Students will learn about Chinese inventions and share their family trees.
Science: In science, we will begin our unit on insects by learning how insects use their different senses.
Literature: We will continue our study of fairy tales and enjoy the story of The Little Mermaid. Students will practice identifying details and main idea. Please don’t forget to bring in your copy of The Cricket in Times Square.
Grammar: We will how to use a comma in a series. We will continue with copy work and dictation by reading excepts
from, Ginger Pye. We will also begin a new poem for recitation. It will be the poem, "The Cow" by Robert Louis Stevenson as we begin a poetry unit on this famous author's poetic works.
Math:We will discuss the problem-solving strategy of guess and check before beginning our unit on subtraction.
